Rays of hope were shining. Tears of joy were falling. Smiles of excitement were flowing. ‘Athwela’ was happening!

On the 7th of December 2019, ‘Athwela 2.0’, a sub project of “Hand in Hand 2019” organised by Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa was executed in aims of dedicating a day towards respecting our elders.

On this day, our Rotaractors were committed to the worthy cause of brightening the lives of the elders at Shantha Sewana Hospice, Maharagama. The elders seeking shelter here have battled the vicious disease of cancer and are now waiting for love to shower over them in the autumn of their lives. The elders include people who have been sent here for treatments as well as people who have been ignored by their families.

During the day, the ward was cleaned and fully painted by our compassionate Rotaractors, adding colours to those innocent lives and uplifting their living standards.

As Rotaractors, we always wish and work to make someone else’s life at least a little better. Through ‘Athwela’, we were capable to add joy to their lives which they spend monotonously most of the times. And the utmost joy that they reflected, spoke volumes about our successful effort. Rotaract Mora will stand forever to support the needed.
