The résumé is the first chance you get to make a good impression on your recruiter. It is your marketing tool which promotes your skills and qualifications, thus helping recruiters choose you over other candidates. Your résumé determines whether you will be called in for an interview or not. So the importance of providing a winning résumé should never be underestimated.

In order to sharpen up the CV’s of final year undergraduates and to boost their confidence when applying for their dream job, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa introduced the Résumé Centre for the first time as an event organized under ‘Are You Ready?2019’. The event was powered by John Keells Holdings PLC and it was successfully held on the 10th of October 2019 at the university premises from 9.00 am onwards.

There’s no better way to shape up your CV than getting advice and guidance from the HR professionals in the corporate field themselves. Through the Résumé Centre, the final year undergraduates got the golden opportunity to meet the well-experienced HR managers of John Keells Holdings. The professional HR managers allocated about 15 minutes to check and evaluate the CV of each undergraduate and gave them further advice on how to write the perfect CV which will stand out from the crowd.

The general feedback collected from the participants was enough proof that every participant had gained the maximum out of the event. Many undergraduates were able to add value to their CV and to gain confidence to kick start their career path. The event was successfully concluded by 4 o’clock in the evening with the participation of more than 450 undergraduates.

Organizing such a huge event for the first time was quite challenging. But it was inspiring to witness how our fellow Rotaractors were able to overcome the obstacles to make this event a great triumph. The Résumé Centre was evidently a massive success and Rotaract Mora will undoubtedly take it to greater heights in the coming years.
