The Clock is Ticking…

Featured Aug 07, 2018

As told by Rtr. Dilini Ayesha

A clock is a little machine that shuts us out from the wonder of time.”  –  Susan Glaspell

The clock is ticking, time is passing. Present becomes past. Future becomes a reality. As adults, we all have spent years spinning silken threads of roles, responsibilities, relationships and habits in a drama that currently defines our lives. Yes, an indescribable confusion. We all are trapped in a confinement created either by ourselves or the society. We wonder if this is all out there to look forward to. Our world seems to be restricted to the web we’ve spun for ourselves. Indeed, our lives have changed a lot!

Life isn’t the only thing that has changed. The world is changing too and changing very quickly. Technology, education, health, food, attire, thinking – there’s hardly anything in this world that’s not changing! We like some of these changes as they create opportunities for us, while the others create worry and anxiety.

“What will happen to us within the next second?” is a question we keep asking ourselves frequently. However, one thing is clear; it’s not possible for us to keep living in the same manner we’ve been living to date. It seems that now the entire fabric of life has to be repainted. Life needs to be redesigned. The life of the individual, the social organization, and governance; all need to be replanned.

Yes, we can’t just survive with our old habits and philosophy. Just take a second, deem the question “what can happen within the next second?”. Claim the throne of your very own “mind-palace” and find the answers. It’s time for us to step out of our comfort zones, try out new things that we haven’t done before and discover the new you! Hiding within you is a daring creature with a great potential waiting to be unleashed. So, push your limits and believe in yourself. Aim high, achieve more and discover new horizons.

Yet, we shall not forget that the things we do today will always reflect on our future. A single step of ours will create an extensive journey in the years to come. Hence, whatever the issues we face now, our solutions shouldn’t be short-term fixes or temporary patches. Our solutions should be sustainable and worthwhile for the benefit of the generations to come.

So, let’s discover new horizons to inspire the future!
