As told by Rtr. Jayami Alwis,

“It’s simple. The more members we have, the more people we can help. A stronger membership base will result in stronger communities.”

It was not just another day for Rotaract Mora, but a very special day of great importance, as a new group of thriving, enthusiastic youth with diverse talents and great potential were welcomed to the family of Rotaract Mora. On the 10th of September 2018, the Induction Ceremony of Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa was held at the TLM Auditorium of University of Moratuwa.

The ceremony began with the arrival of the guests, Guide Club Coordinator Rtr. IPP Thareef Ubaid, Immediate Past President of Rotaract Mora Rtr. Rashan Wickremaratne, Joint District Coordinator for Community Service and Immediate Past Vice President of Rotaract Mora Rtr. Isuru Dharmadasa and Immediate Past Vice President of Rotaract Mora Rtr. Sahan Jayawardana.  After lighting the traditional oil lamp and following the Rotaract formalities, President, Rtr. Paveen Perera delivered the welcome speech acknowledging the presence of the guests as well as the audience and highlighted the main purpose of the event.

Then, our Guide Club Coordinator, Rtr. IPP Thareef Ubaid, stepped up to address the gathering and shared his experience, knowledge and wisdom with the keen and attentive audience. The stage was then opened to recognise the new faces of our family.  Hence, the certificates of recognition were awarded to the newly inducted members.

Another highlight of the event was the presentations carried out by the respective avenue directors of the four avenues of service; Professional Development, Club Service, Community Service and International Service. They introduced their ongoing projects as well as their future endeavours and gave the newly inducted members a good understanding of the ventures of Rotaract Mora. An enthralling presentation on “Rotaract Champions League” was also conducted by Director – Special Projects. Following that, the remainder of the awarding sessions were carried out throughout the night. 150 members who, with their enthusiasm, hard work, and dedication, have done a tremendous service for the upliftment of the club were awarded certificates and felicitated to appreciate their work and encourage them.

The night was lit with laughter, cheer and joy which depicted the success of the event. The crowd that filled the entire hall was more than enough to describe the victories of the many magnificent days of Rotaract Mora. The active, cheerful and attentive audience never failed to increase the excitement throughout the evening.

The ceremony was, indeed, a blast, and all participants left the premises with a happy smile on their faces, and surely with their hearts filled with lots of dreams and hopes to continue their efforts to help Rotaract Mora reach greater heights. It is evident that newly inducted members will do a great service for their new family and make the club stand proud and strong.

We congratulate all the newly inducted members and wish them a happy, memorable and life-changing journey ahead with the Rotaract fraternity.

Viva la Rotaract!
