“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”

What do Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have in common? Yes, they are all household names but apart from that what is not apparent is that, as accomplished as they are, all three of them could and did use some extra help from time to time. Zuckerberg was mentored by Jobs who in turn was mentored by Mike Marrkula, whilst Gates was under the wing of Warren Buffet. In fact, all accomplished personalities from Bruce Lee to Chef Gordon Ramsey had mentors at one time or another. Thus, it is evident that seeking for assistance or advice is not a sign of weakness; rather, it’s a mark of maturity and wisdom.

University of Moratuwa harnesses the cream out of all G.C.E. A/L candidates, and after four years of professional training, unsurprisingly generates extremely talented graduates who go on to conquer their respective career paths. However, a feeling of nervousness coupled with a few nagging questions about their future career is quite common among the final year undergraduates. In this regard, “The Webinar Series” is a fresh initiative undertaken by Rotaract Mora as part of the main project “Are You Ready? 2019”.

Specifically, “The Webinar Series” was a series of seminars conducted over the Internet by reputed professionals of the corporate world, and targeted at refining the knowledge and skills of final year undergraduates. The series began on the 2nd of October 2019 and continued till the 21st , with the participation of three corporate companies, namely, John Keells Holdings, McKinsey & Company, and Dialog. The sessions focused upon discussions related to the five departments, Transport and Logistics Management, Mechanical, Material, Textile and Chemical and Process Engineering.

The one-hour long sessions were conducted live through Facebook in the form of Question & Answer sessions. Whilst a moderator would be directing FAQs to the guest speaker, the audience could also pose their questions as an online comment which would subsequently be diverted to the speaker. Based on the huge positive feedback, the event was evidently a massive success. As always, Rotaract Mora managed to accomplish the task while delivering an impressive outcome to the audience. Within the forthcoming years, this novel initiative will unquestionably be led to tremendous heights.
